Why should you switch to Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFLs)?

Switching from traditional light bulbs is much easier than you may think. Switching to CFLs is an effective, and simple change that you can make to help the environment.

By making this change you will be using less electricity at home and help prevent green house gas emissions that lead to global climate change. If every home in America replaced just one incadescent light bulb with an energy star qualified CFL, in one year it would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes. That would prevent the release of green house gas emissions equal to that of about 800,000 cars.

Look for : Energy Star qualified CFLs, these use up to 75 percent less energy (electricity) than traditional (cadescent) light bulbs, they last up to 10 times longer, cost little up front, and provide a quick return on investment.

CFLs contain small amounts of mercury and like any other product containing potentially hazardous materials do not place them in regular disposal. These products should be taken to a qualified disposal facility.

We at Affordable Energy Solutions are dedicated to the protection of the environment and we recognize that in the grand scheme of things, our small contributions on a daily basis reduces our carbon footprint on the environment.
